Martin/Boyd Family

Calhoun County, Alabama

Compiled by Annette Young, grand-daughter of Royl Martin & Helen Boyd

with the help of so many others... Thank you!

Digging for the Past

Our families originated, in the United States, mainly in the southern east coast states of Georgia, Virginia, and North & South Carolina, before migrating to Calhoun County Alabama.  The majority of our Ancestors came from England, Scotland and Ireland with much of them coming long before this country became the United States of America.  We are definitely from hardy stock, not adverse to hard times and hard work.  Contrary to many stories that the family came on the Mayflower, this is not so.  Much of the family was here when the Mayflower arrived and the Martin family who was on the passenger list all died the first winter.

The more information I find on our family, the more I realize is still missing.  I'm sure there are many people who have the missing links we're looking for and vice versa.  I developed this website, not only for our family to access and learn from, but to help others in their search for their family.  I encourage anyone with information, or corrections to email me.  I will be more than happy to share all the information I've found.

Don't forget to sign the Guestbook

I want this website to be more than just a family tree and a bunch of links.  I want to share stories, photos, maybe dispel some myths and learn even more.  When you're able to see more than just a name, the person becomes real and comes alive.  This is an ever growing project and with the help of others, it can go on for generations to come.  To respect the privacy of those who are still living, no personal information will be used without permission, unless the name has been used in public records and/or newspapers, such as in the obituaries.
