Albert Franklin BoydAlbert was 9 years old when his family moved from Georgia to Alabama in 1897, according to stories told to the children in the family, they moved in a covered wagon. He died at the age of 49 in an accident with an RC Cola truck and his nephew's taxicab, which he was traveling in. He had told his daughter Helen, who he had gone to see in the hospital in Detroit, that he had prayed all the way there that God would take him instead of her.
THE ANNISTON STAR Saturday March 27, 1937 Local Man, Albert Boyd, Killed in Tragic Automobile Accident in Kentucky Returning from Detroit where he visited his daughter in a hospital, Albert Boyd of Anniston was killed in an automobile accident near London Kentucky late Friday night. His body will be returned here for burial. Robert Boyd, local taxicab driver and nephew of the victim and Ralph Hindman, both of Anniston, were in the accident but suffered injuries of a minor nature. Robert Boyd notified his father J.A. Boyd by long distance telephone of the accident but gave no details how it happened.
THE ANNISTON STAR Monday March 29, 1937 Funeral is held for Albert Boyd at Eulaton Today Funeral services for A.F. Boyd age 49, who was killed in an automobile accident Friday near London Kentucky, were conducted this afternoon at the Eulaton Methodist Church. Interment was in Edgemont Cemetery with White in charge. Boyd is survived by his wife, four sons C.F. Gordon, and Jack all of Anniston and R.S. Boyd of Pittsburgh; two daughters Mrs. Howard Martin of Detroit and Mrs. E.R. Murphree of Anniston. Three brothers John, Will, and Jess Boyd of Anniston and five sisters Nan Christopher of Birmingham, Pearl Waddell, Lillie Martin, Mrs. Dave McCartney and Mrs. Ida Sims of Anniston. Mr. Boyd was in route home from Detroit when he met his death. he had been to see his daughter who was ill in a hospital. Robert Boyd, his nephew and Ralph Hindman were in the automobile at the time of the accident and escaped with minor injuries.
